|Victoria Jean "Vickie" Ruble 1945 ~ 2018
Victoria Jean (Nash) Ruble was born January 28, 1945 to Delola (Stricklin)
and Jesse (Bud) Nash. She was the oldest daughter in a family of seven
siblings. Vickie loved to learn and started Crossville Community School at the
age of only four and graduated Bunker High School in 1961. She pursued
her goal to become a teacher, attending Harris-Stowe Teacher's College and
graduating from University of Missouri at Columbia in 1965. She taught
various classes and grades at Bunker R-3 from 1965 to 1973. There she met
and married the love of her life and partner, Mike Ruble on May 9, 1973. She
and Coach Ruble taught at Northwood R-4 in Salem from 1973 until retiring in
2003. She taught, loved and molded hundreds of students in her lifetime. She
inspired her younger siblings and other family members to also become
To the union of Mike and Vickie Ruble, two children, Matthew Richard and
Morgan Mikelle were born. They have both become educators, following in
the path of their parents. Vickie loved her family fiercely and unconditionally.
She and Mike were extraordinary parents who took great pride in the
accomplishments of their children. She often proclaimed that her
grandchildren, JP, Deyton and Avery were her greatest blessings and joys.
Vickie passed from this life on February 21, 2018 at the age of 73 years and
24 days. Vickie is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Ruble, parents,
Delola and Jesse Nash, mother in law, Pauline Ruble Rainey and brother,
She is survived by two children, Matthew Ruble and wife, Misty, Farmington,
Morgan Lucas and husband, Will, St. Louis; two brothers, Pat Nash and wife,
Bernadean, Bunker, Roger Nash and wife, Kim, Jerome; three sisters,
Veronica Hambacker and husband, John, Salem, Phyllis (Penny) Cook,
Bonne Terre, Francine Copeland, Maynard, Arkansas; sisters in law, Shirley
Nash, Salem, Sally Withers and husband, Breck, State of California; her three
precious grandchildren, JP Ruble, Deyton Lucas and Avery Lucas. She also
leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and former students.
Vickie dedicated her life to Christ in 1959 and became a member of Greeley
United Baptist Church. After marriage, she and Mike became members of
Salem First Baptist Church where they served and worshiped throughout
their marriage. Upon moving to Arnold, Missouri in 2014, she became a
member of the First Baptist Church of Arnold. She was unwavering in her
faith and loved her church families. She lived as a shining example of the
faith she professed.
Vickie was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, friend, teacher
and Christian. She is now rejoicing in Heaven with her husband, parents,
extended family, friends and some students. She will be greatly missed but
her legacy of students whose lives she touched and family she dearly loved
will live on. The world is undoubtedly a better place because she lived.
Funeral service for Victoria Jean “Vickie” Ruble was held Saturday, February
24, 2018 at Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Bro. Larry Nash officiating,
special words were shared by Morgan Lucas, Matt Ruble, Roger Nash and
Veronica Hambacker, music was provided by Megan Cribbs and a special CD
selection. Serving as pallbearers were, Will Lucas, J.D. Nash, Ryan Day,
Gary Nash, Roger Nash and Rick Day, honorary pallbearer was Jonathan
Hambacker. Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
