|Leon Dale Thompson 1933 ~ 2018
Leon Dale Thompson was born September 14, 1933 in Greeley, Missouri to
Elijah and Myrtle (Nash) Thompson and passed away July 10, 2018 in Salem,
Missouri at the age of eighty-four years.
On February 11, 1959, Leon Dale Thompson was united in marriage to
Velma Darlene Williams. Leon enjoyed playing music and the electric bass.
He loved his grandkids and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Leon was a member of Second Baptist Church and served as a Deacon.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Elijah and Myrtle Thompson; infant
brothers, Larry and Maurice Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Thompson of the home in Salem; son,
Steven Thompson and wife, Missy, Salem; sister, Loretta and husband, Earl
"Bud" Longfellow, Washington, Illinois; grandchildren, Dane Thompson,
Nathan Pyle, Brock Thompson, Kalyn Thompson, Regan Thompson; brother
and sister in law, Wayne and Inos Williams, Salem; extended family and
Leon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service for Leon Dale Thompson was held Friday, July 13, 2018 at
the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Bro. Larry Nash officiating. Special
CD selections were played. Serving as pallbearers were Steven Thompson,
Dane Thompson, Brock Thompson, Nathan Pyle, Greg Longfellow and Kevin
Longfellow. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Krepps and Earl “Bud” Longfellow.
Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
