Daniel Eugene "Gene" Sturdivant was born April 14, 1944 in Dent County,
Missouri to Vernon and Grace (Walker) Sturdivant and passed away January
16, 2018 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of seventy-three years.
On September 15, 1972, Gene Sturdivant was united in marriage to
Geraldine Adeline Schlegel in Salem, Missouri. Gene owned and trained race
horses, he enjoyed making hay, and farming cattle. He was a member of
Liberty Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Vernon and Grace Sturdivant;
brothers, Delmar, Robert, and Donald Sturdivant; sisters, Alma Hoggard, and
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Sturdivant of the home in Salem;
children, Deeana Baldwin, Salem, William Sturdivant and wife, Stacy,
Burlington, Iowa, Robert Sturdivant, Springfield; brother, Dorman Sturdivant
and wife, Cleo, Inverness, Florida; sister, Dormalea Yates and husband, Bob,
Fallon, Nevada; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several
nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Gene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service for Daniel Eugene “Gene” Sturdivant was held Tuesday,
January 23, 2018 at Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Bro. Jim Privett
officiating, special CD selections were played. Serving as pallbearers were,
Timmy Manley, Jack Wilkening, Jeremy Cobb, Kenny Wells, John Connell and
Frank Chitwood. Honorary pallbearers were, Johnny Campbell Sr., Johnny
Campbell Jr., Dustin Rice, Dylan Sturdivant and Mikee DeClue. Funeral
procession was led by the Patriot Guard and interment was in the Stone Hill
Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
