|William Charles Whitmire 1931 ~ 2017
William Charles Whitmire was born August 2, 1931 in Salem, Missouri to
Walter Clark and Victoria Dale (Elmer) Whitmire and passed away December
4, 2017 in Salem, Missouri at the age of eighty-six years.
On February 15, 1958, William Charles Whitmire was united in marriage to
Shirley Ann Roberts in Salem, Missouri and to this union two children were
born. Charles honorably served in the United States Army and was a Korean
War Veteran. He was president of the Jaycees when the first pee wee
baseball league started. He was instrumental in getting the flag and veteran
memorial at the corner of 4th and Jackson, founding director of Ozark Rivers
Savings and Loan, past president of Rotary Club, member of Salem Masonic
Lodge and American Legion, past president of Salem Industrial Building
Corporation, member of Salem High School Alumni Association, Dent County
Historical Society, and was a Chamber of Commerce volunteer. Charles was
a member of Salem United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday
School teacher, treasurer, and on the board. Charles was employed by First
National Bank for 50 years and later became president and chairman of the
board succeeding his father Clark Whitmire. Charles was still serving on U.S.
Preceding him in death were his parents, W.C. and Dale Elmer Whitmire.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Whitmire, Salem; children, Chuck Whitmire
and wife, Annette, Rolla, Karen Carmier and husband, Stewart, Salem;
grandchildren, Kyle Whitmire and wife, Melanie, Columbia, Ryan Whitmire,
Denver, Colorado, Tyler Whitmire and wife, Erica, Long Island, New York,
Aimee Whitmire, Rolla, Drew Carmier and wife, Meredith, Shoreline,
Washington, Jenny Summers, Salem; great grandchildren, Marek Whitmire,
Keira Whitmire, Maylen Whitmire, Kenley Whitmire, Mila Whitmire, Aiden
Summers and Addyson Summers; grandchildren by heart, Prabhu AngaJala,
St. Louis, Joe and Erin Ragan and their children, Evelyn and Annalyn,
Mocksville, North Carolina.
Charles will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service for William Charles Whitmire was held Thursday, December
07, 2017 at Salem United Methodist Church with Pastor Chuck Whitmire,
Pastor Barry Baugh and Karen Carmier officiating, eulogies were given by
family members and special music was provided by Debbie Hines and Ann
Emory. Serving as pallbearers were, Kyle Whitmire, Ryan Whitmire, Tyler
Whitmire, Drew Carmier, Jenny Summers, Aimee Whitmire, Steve Watson and
Herb Jones. Honorary pallbearers were, Don Crandell, Jerry Craig, Bob
Duckworth, Jimmy Edwards, Harold Butler, Dr. John Demorlis and Dr. Ted
Ziske. Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
